According to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, the Golden State Warriors want to bring both LeBron James and Anthony Davis to town, pairing them alongside Stephen Curry. It would be a Los Angeles Lakers title team reunion, but this time, in Golden State. And that would be quite the team to have to deal with.

Obviously, at this point in their respective careers, James and Davis aren’t the players they once were when the Lakers won the title in 2020. However, they still both play at a very high level, especially when healthy. So, if the Warriors could successfully put them next to Curry and Draymond Green, that team could be solid.

And the Lakers would have to just sit back and watch it all unfold.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis may join Stephen Curry on Warriors

Getting James and Davis in Golden State would be no easy task, but there is a pretty straightforward pathway for the Warriors to make it happen. It would just take some serious work.

First, the Warriors would have to trade an injured Jimmy Butler to the Washington Wizards for Davis, pulling him away from the team that just traded for him last year.

Then, they would have to hope that trading for Davis is enough to convince James to join the Warriors, as they would then have a Big 3 of James, Davis, and Curry leading the way, with Green right behind them.

Meanwhile, that might actually be a good thing for the Lakers. Not the fact that the Warriors would be building the oldest super team in recent memory, but the fact that James’ money would be off the books.

It would free them up to start building things out around Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. Instead of paying James, they could pay a center, some shooters, and some defenders. That would be ideal.

Still, the Lakers would then have to deal with the 40-year-old super team by the time the playoffs came around, because for as old as James, Curry, and Davis are getting, they can still play.

There’s a reason the Warriors aren’t giving up on trying to build a winner around Curry. They know that he can still win at the highest level. He just needs the right help around him to do it.

And maybe, just maybe, James and Davis will give him enough support to help him make one final run at a championship. But that’s a question for if and when this crazy hypothetical actually happens.
