The Los Angeles Lakers are unsure what will happen with Bronny James as LeBron James’ future is in doubt. Rich Paul noted on Friday that 10-12 teams have reached out, but the powerful agent is waiting on LeBron. Bill Simmons believes the Warriors are a serious threat to sign King James. Does that mean they trade for Bronny? LeBron would be taking a pay cut and wants to play with his son. A stipulation of signing could be acquiring Bronny.

The 21-year-old showed significant improvement this season. He shot 37.6 percent from 3-point range over 20 G League games and made 22 of 57 in his NBA minutes. Bronny struggles on defense, must improve his ball-handling, and is not ready for a nightly rotation role. His gains were positive, but there are no guarantees he sticks with the Lakers if LeBron is gone.

Paul made it clear that all the talk about LeBron is noise. King James hasn’t made a decision yet. He proved he’s still elite, but the 41-year-old is an unrestricted free agent. LeBron is more likely to leave the Lakers the longer this plays out, and his departure likely means the end of Bronny.

Bronny James future is cloudy thanks to LeBron James

Golden State feels like the only real threat to steal King James at the moment. LeBron has always been intrigued by playing with Stephen Curry. He is good friends with Draymond Green and played under head coach Steve Kerr at the 2024 Olympics. The Warriors want to compete, and the veteran group would have no issues working with LeBron.

Draymond doesn’t see it happening. King James loves Los Angeles and is building his life there. Green believes LeBron’s decision is between the Lakers and retirement, but that is exactly what someone trying to convince him to leave might say to throw everyone off the scent.

The Warriors reportedly had interest in Bronny during the 2024 draft. They ultimately passed after Paul told teams that LeBron’s son would play in Australia if he didn’t end up with the Lakers. They would have no issues trading for Bronny if it meant getting LeBron.

The Lakers take care of their superstars. They always have. If Los Angeles can’t win the free agent bidding for LeBron, they would trade his son to his new home. Fans may not like it, but the purple and gold are always thinking about how their decisions will impact the next superstar that wants to come to LA.

The Lakers should have hope that Bronny James can blossom into a rotation player. He keeps improving and is clearly working on his game. The undersized guard will always have limitations, but others are impacting winning at the highest level.

The Los Angeles Lakers will ask LeBron James to take a pay cut this offseason. If he leaves, Bronny James may follow him out the door. LeBron’s future is uncertain. The Warriors are a serious threat, and it could cost the purple and gold two players. Rob Pelinka has to get the Lakers out of this mess by locking down King James.

Ultimately, it is LeBron’s choice. If he leaves, don’t be surprised to see Bronny traded to his new team. All fans can do is wait to see how it all plays out.
