The Game Over with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul podcast has quickly gone off the rails. Paul and Kellerman have resorted to rage-baiting nonsense that can only be explained by a shameless attempt to go viral (and it's working ... here we are).

Kudos to Kellerman for staying relevant. He's obviously punking us all in the podcast, and it's actually hilarious. The situation is more ominous for Paul, though, given his position as an NBA agent.

Paul's recent suggestion of the Los Angeles Lakers need to trade Austin Reaves caused some issues. The Lakers reportedly aren't happy with Paul. LeBron James had to come out and publicly distance himself from Paul's take.

Reaves' agent confronted Paul in person at a Lakers game, and Paul felt the need to explain himself and make an attempt at an apology during the most recent pod, but it only made Paul look worse.

Rich Paul's reaction to Austin Reaves backlash only made him look weaker

In talking to Kellerman, Paul's comments on the Reaves situation were nonsensical and utterly disingenuous. First, Paul described how he buttered up Reaves's agent by calling him "my man" and saying that he loves Reaves as a player and person. Classic snake oil salesman-type stuff.

Paul then reminded listeners that his Reaves trade idea was a "hypothetical take" and "not something that was going to happen." Really, Rich?

Would you mind describing for us a media-created trade proposal in the history of the NBA that wasn't a hypothetical? Furthermore, if the trade has no chance of happening, what was the value of you talking about it?

Kellerman's response to Paul's pile of hot garbage was peak clickbait. He literally started talking about how the Lakers should consider trading Luka Doncic, which not only elicited global attention but also distracted viewers from the pathetic spiel that Paul had just stumbled through.

Paul's performance here was another reminder that he's only damaging his brand by podcasting. Before Paul started this pod with Kellerman, millions of fans were completely unaware of what he was like.

We'd only heard that he was the CEO of Klutch Sports, LeBron James' friend, and a powerful agent. We all assumed he must be a pretty smart dude.

On the contrary, this podcast has revealed Paul to be a way more of a pretender and con man than anyone expected. His explanations for things have no structure, his opinions have no consistency, and his overall approach comes across as utterly aimless and artless.

The mystery of Rich Paul was much more enticing than the reality of Rich Paul. With each new podcast that comes out, his aura as some sort of super-agent is being deconstructed. All that's left is the realization that pretty much anyone could do what he does if they were discovered, befriended, and endorsed by LeBron.
