Mark Cuban Gets His Wish

AUTHOR: | IN: Commentary | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Once upon a time the Lakers and Mavericks were rivals of sorts. The two teams tangled three times in the postseason during the 1980’s. Naturally the Lake Show took all three of the encounters though each series became increasingly more difficult with the 1988 clash going a full 7 games in the Western Finals. Ever since Mark Cuban resurrected the decaying Dallas franchise he’s had one target square in his crosshairs – the Los Angeles Lakers. Well, Cubes, be careful what you wish for. Way back in September the loud mouthed billionaire made the bold claim that his squad could [...]

Lakers are a Dominant Pau Performance Away from Advancing

AUTHOR: | IN: Pau Gasol | COMMENTS: None Yet

Pau Gasol needs a pep talk. Not one of those corny Lou Holtz talks peppered with 1950’s witticisms and clichéd sayings. He needs one of those profanity laced KB24 tirades that will put the fear of MJ in the Spaniard’s heart. Pau, wake up! You’re asleep at the wheel and your team has just merged onto three-peat highway! Just think how much different this series against the Hornets would be if Gasol was the 22 and 12 Pau against New Orleans from the regular season. This thing would be over faster than Dennis Rodman’s marriage to Carmen Electra. Pau, snap [...]

Kobe Bryant’s throwback to the ‘fro days

AUTHOR: | IN: Videos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Coming into last night’s Game 5 with the Hornets, one question loomed over LakerLand: Is Kobe Bryant healthy and able to play? Really, who cares about Chris Paul. We need Kobe if we’re going to win it all. Whether we lose in the first round or the Finals, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters in L.A. is winning a championship. With that said, instead of struggling with a severely sprained foot/ankle (possibly broken), Bryant busted out the highlights, looking like he was 23-years-old again with an Afro. Catching a bounce pass from Pau Gasol at the top of [...]

A Little Effort Goes a Long Way for Lakers

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Where have the Lakers been hiding the heart of a champion? Sometimes all it takes is effort. When the Lakers act like they give a crap they tend to kick the crap out of the competition. Game 5 wasn’t a must win by any means. No disrespect to the Hornets but this squad has been in worst spots against much better teams on a much larger stage. So you’ll excuse me if I wasn’t on the edge of my couch tonight. Truth be told though I was concerned that we were going to see another lackluster performance after New Orleans [...]

Lakers’ Derrick Caracter arrested after allegedly pushing female cashier

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

In unfortunate news for Lakers fans, rookie Derrick Caracter was arrested early Sunday morning after a physical altercation at an IHOP restaurant in New Orleans, LA. Supposedly, the 22-year-old rookie pushed a female cashier after he was refused service. No injuries to the woman have been reported. The current charges against Caracter are battery, public drunkenness and resisting arrest. At first, reports claimed the woman was pregnant, yet those claims have since been denied. Reports claim Caracter was released on Sunday on $1,000 bond. The Lakers are aware of the case and charges, but have no further comments. Caracter was [...]

Lake Show Goes Off Script in Game 4 Loss

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: None Yet

The road to three-peat country just got a little longer. Nobody said this was going to be easy…well…I did say this series was supposed to be easy. I’ve officially eaten my words and did so without any hot sauce. But it burns just the same. This is not how this series was supposed to go. The Lakers had every advantage (except for one) and they’ve somehow been beaten at their own game twice in this series. The Hornets get credit for the 93-88 win in Game 3. This wasn’t so much about what the Lakers didn’t do as opposed to [...]

New Orleans, You Have a Problem

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs, Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

If you’ve been catching the Lake Show this season then you know how these things go. The Lakers look uninterested and lose to an opponent that has no business having any confidence after the first quarter. Kinda like what happened in Game 1. One of their All-Stars isn’t playing up to par. Sorta like how Pau Gasol has been in the first two games. Then they get a win…an ugly one…but a win none the less. Something resembling what happened in Game 2. All of a sudden they go champion on some unsuspecting team on the road and suck the [...]

Lakers/Hornets Game 3 Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Lakers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Wheels down in New Orleans. The Lakers are headed to New Orleans (they’re actually there right now) and will hopefully be leaving their “baggage” behind in L.A. Why might you ask? Because so far, just about everything that could go wrong has. Chris Paul went off in Game 1 and regained his swagger. Aaron Gray went in Game 1, as well, and realized he could actually play the game of basketball. Carl Landry and Trevor Ariza each proved capable of being a decent sidekick to CP3. Conversely, Kobe Bryant struggled in Game 2. Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum struggled in [...]

Lakers Stall Chris Paul in Game 2 Victory

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

This is a very bad sign for the New Orleans Hornets. If you would have told Monty Williams his team would hold the Lakers to 87 points, keep Kobe Bryant under 15 points and get 22 from Trevor Ariza he’d have thought his squad would be in line to stun the hoops world having taken two from the champs. Well…that’s why you can’t rely on stats to tell the whole story. Just ask Chris Paul about that. Paul posted a respectable 20 and 9 but he was flustered all night long. The Lakers truly took a team approach to containing [...]

Lakers/Hornets Game 2 Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs, Preview | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Heading into Game 2, the Lakers have a lot to be disappointed about. The Lakers were supposed to win this series in an easy four or five games. With the way they played in Game 1, they’ll be lucky to win it in six. But of course we as Laker fans know better. We know L.A. is the better team. We know the Hornets have no chance without David West. Therefore, it’s not a matter of if L.A. wins the series but when. Hornets center Aaron Gray — yes the one who put up a 12-10 on the Lakers’ All-Star [...]
