Jose Calderon

There’s no need to state the fact that Jose Calderon definitely isn’t the most sought after NBA 2K player. But for me, he represented a nice change of pace. I’ll admit to flying around the court and shooting silly shots with the starting group. However, as soon as Calderon entered the game, things slowed down and I regained control of the game and the speed.

Although we are unsure which of his foreign reserve point guards Luke Walton will prefer when the real season starts, the 2K developers have Jose as the primary backup with Marcelo Huertas as the 12th man. And to be honest, I’m okay with that.

Calderon was able to change the pace of the game and provide a small and unexpected scoring punch off the bench. It felt similar to how Jordan Farmar use to play on these 2K games behind Derek Fisher. But instead of slow to fast like it was for Fisher-Farmar, it was fast to slow with Russell-Calderon.

From my approximate eight games that I played, I made sure to get Jose ample playing time. His screen and roll game is very nice and is complemented his reliable floaters and mid-range jumpers.

For the younger 2k players who value SportsCenter highlights, Calderon is a dud. But for the people like me who value fundamentals and simplicity, it doesn’t get much better than Jose Calderon.
