LOS ANGELES, CA – JUNE 23: Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers arrives for a press conference after he was selected as the number 2 pick in the NBA draft on June 23, 2017 the the team training faculity in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Jayne Kamin-Oncea/Getty Images) /

Lonzo Ball begins career as Laker:

Born in Southern California, it’s been Lonzo’s dream to be a Laker, and his fathers dream. That dream becomes reality tonight when he puts on a Lakers jersey for the first time in his career. All fans will be glued to their television as the hype has built over the past few months. Lakers take on the Clippers tonight on ESPN at 5:30 PCT.

The coaching staff will be looking for a few things from Ball during his play. First, will his unorthodox shooting motion translate to the NBA level. Even though this is against mostly rookies and second year players, it’ll be a start for Ball. Last season he shot an astounding 41.2% from deep. It would be exciting to see Ball come out and drain some shots early to start the game.

Also, can he drive to the basket and convert upon free throws, if fouled? Last season at UCLA, he averaged just 2.7 free throws a game shooting them at a 67.7 percent clip. Look for him to be aggressive and get to the basket.

Everyone knows about Ball’s extraordinary court vision. This vision led him to average 7.6 assists last year at UCLA. I can’t wait to see how he gets Brandon Ingram and others involved in the offense. How much of an impact will Ball have opening up the floor for others to succeed? This will be crucial to his NBA success. Get ready for an exciting Monday night, when Ball goes toe-to-toe with De’Aaron Fox.
