Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: The Lakers will reportedly host the Minnesota Timberwolves in the nightcap on Christmas Day.
With the NBA offseason winding down, Los Angeles Lakers rumors have been as well. With a roster pretty much set, there isn’t much more player movement that will occur in Los Angeles. However, the most recent rumors surrounding the team have nothing to do with the players that are taking the court. Instead, they are about when they will be taking the court.
The NBA has not yet released the full 2017-18 regular season schedule, but parts of it have begun to leak. Earlier today it was reported that the Lakers will be opening the season against their co-tenants, the Los Angeles Clippers. Another game for the Lakers has now leaked as well.
According to The Score, the Lakers will be a part of the NBA’s Christmas Day festivities. The five-game slate has become an NBA tradition, and the Lakers will be hosting the night cap.

The Lakers will reportedly be playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the fifth and final game of the night. It will be a great night cap between two up-and-coming teams in the Western Conference.
The Timberwolves look much improved this offseason. After trading for Jimmy Butler, Tom Thibodeau finally has his veteran superstar to lean on to help Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins. With Butler, Jeff Teague, Jamal Crawford, and Taj Gibson being added to the roster, the Timberwolves have some heightened expectations.
The Lakers will more than likely find themselves taking part in plenty of nationally televised games this season. The Lakers are a huge draw nationally, and they now have some players that the NBA will want to get out in front of a national audience.
Lonzo Ball is a big reason for the hype growing around the Lakers. The Lakers are becoming a hot ticket item once again, and the NBA is going to ride that train to huge audiences in primetime throughout the season.
Christmas Day should once again provide some great games for fans to watch. The New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers will kick things off at 12 PM ET; after that it is all NBA Playoff rematches.
