Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: The Lakers will most likely not allow Ball In The Family to tape Lonzo Ball during training camp or while he is at the facility.

Many of the most recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors have involved the team’s roster for training camp and next year. Fans are already getting excited about the summer of 2018 when LeBron James is expected to become a free agent once again. There are also rumors surrounding the Lakers about filling their final roster spot with Shabazz Muhammad.

One player that will not be worrying about making the Lakers roster is rookie point guard, Lonzo Ball. Ball was the No. 2 overall pick by the Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft. The organization has high expectations for the UCLA product, already dubbing him the face of the franchise.

The hype train for Ball hasn’t slowed down at all since he was drafted. He was dominant in the Las Vegas Summer League, the first time he was playing in an NBA environment. Ball took home MVP honors of the tournament, as he was the best player in Las Vegas.

More from Lakers Rumors

Everything thus far since becoming an NBA player has probably been a whirlwind for Ball. He was a top prospect coming out of high school and lived up to the hype there. Those expectations won’t lessen with the Lakers, as they hope he can help turn them around just as he did with the UCLA program.

The draft process can be a hectic time for young athletes. They don’t know where they will be continuing their playing career, which is nerve-racking. Rarely do you get an inside look at the life of a draft prospect, but Ball isn’t any regular draft prospect.

LaVar Ball, the boisterous father of Lonzo, has been talking up his son for a long time. His outlandish comments rub people the wrong way, but he has shown he cares a lot about his family. We are going to get an inside look at that in their reality series, Ball In The Family.

Ball In The Family is a Facebook exclusive series that follows the Ball family in a reality series. It gives a different perspective of the family and an inside look at certain things, such as the health of Tina Ball, LaVar’s wife and the mother to Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo.

The first two episodes are already featured on the Facebook page for Ball In The Family. One thing that many people would be interested to see is Lonzo working out with the Lakers. People that want to see that will be disappointed to hear it probably won’t happen.

Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times said it does not sound like the Lakers will allow Ball In The Family to tape while Lonzo is in camp and at the facility. It is something LaVar said is fine.

Baxter Holmes of ESPN Los Angeles had some added quotes as well.

"“I want everybody to get all this stuff in and then when October rolls around, tell everybody back up,” LaVar said. “Lonzo’s fixing to perform. From October to the playoffs.” Lonzo Ball is a rookie point guard for the Lakers. The family’s reality show is a 10-episode weekly series that airs on Facebook and debuted Thursday."

This is something that should not come as a surprise. Following Lonzo around during the offseason is one thing; he can do as he pleases when he is off. However, once the basketball season is picking up, the fewer distractions the better.

The Lakers are making the right decision to now allow cameras at the facility, and it is good to see LaVar getting behind that as well. He understands as much as anyone that once the season starts, it is time to focus on basketball.
