Los Angeles Lakers small forward Corey Brewer will be inducted into the Florida Gator Hall of Fame.

Los Angeles Lakers small forward Corey Brewer has had an eventful offseason. Things are looking up for his team, as the Lakers have added a lot of talent this offseason. Brewer believes that the future is bright in Los Angeles. He is looking forward to the training camp battles that will ensue in a few weeks, and rightfully so.

However, that bright future could keep Brewer from getting consistent minutes this season. That has not dampened his outlook, as Brewer is ready to embrace the veteran role on this Lakers team.

While his playing time is up for debate, what isn’t is how busy an offseason Brewer has had. Brewer had the basketball court at his high school, Portland High in Tennessee, named after him. During Lakers night at a Los Angeles Dodgers game, Brewer threw out the first pitch. Now, Brewer will be adding another accolade.

It was announced that Brewer will be inducted into the Florida Gator Hall of Fame. Brewer shared the news on his Twitter account.

Brewer will not be the only basketball player inducted into the Gator Hall of Fame. He will be joined by collegiate teammates Al Horford and Joakim Noah as well.

More from Lakers News

The trio helped lead the Gators three SEC East titles and back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007. The run during the 2005-06 season came out of nowhere, as Florida was not ranked to begin that season. During the 2006-07 season, the Gators never fell below No. 7 in the AP Rankings.

Brewer, Horford and Noah all joined the Florida program from the Class of 2004. Brewer was the highest-rated prospect of the three, as he was the No. 7 small forward and No. 31 overall in the class. Horford was the seventh-ranked power forward and No. 36 overall. Noah was the No. 19 center and No. 75 overall.

During the back-to-back championship runs, Brewer played some outstanding basketball. In 12 NCAA Tournament games those two seasons, Brewer scored in double-figures all but one time. He was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team both seasons and took home the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2007.

All three players deserve recognition and it will be a great honor to be inducted into the Florida Gator Hall of Fame. The three all declared for the NBA after the 2007 championship-winning season. All three were selected in the lottery as well.
