The Los Angeles Lakers are set to face the Washington Wizards tonight, and Wizards head coach Scott Brooks talked about LaVar Ball.

When you mention the Los Angeles Lakers there is a lot that comes to mind. Their young roster is at the forefront and their master plans for the 2018 offseason have fans excited. One of those young players that have people excited is rookie point guard, Lonzo Ball.

Ball is as polarizing a prospect as we have seen in recent years. Part of that is because of his immense talent. Ball is an elite ball handler and playmaker; the type of player Magic Johnson hopes can help turn the Lakers around and possibly make a new version of the Showtime Lakers. Everyone has also heard about the unorthodox shooting form that he has.

However, arguably the most polarizing and well-known thing about Lonzo is his father, LaVar Ball. LaVar is not afraid of the camera, sharing his opinions no matter how outlandish they are.

Some of those outlandish comments will impact Lonzo on the court. Patrick Beverley hounded him in his regular season debut, saying after the game that players are going to come after Lonzo because of LaVar.

Those types of comments are what really rubs people the wrong way. They believe LaVar is putting unwarranted pressure on Lonzo, who already has the pressure of being the face of the Lakers. Lonzo said that the pressure put on him by what his father says is something he is used to and has dealt with his whole life, so this is nothing new to him.

While LaVar has rubbed plenty of people the wrong way, but there are also a ton of people that love the confidence he has in his sons and that he is 100 percent behind them. One of those people is Washington Wizards head coach, Scott Brooks.

Brooks and the Wizards will be facing the Lakers tonight at the STAPLES Center at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT on ESPN. His view of LaVar is a positive one.

"“You know what, hey, people talk about [Lonzo’s] dad all the time. Hey, I mean, my father left me at 2. I would love to have my father around like [LaVar] is around and talk to him and pump me up with confidence,” Brooks said, according to the Washington Post. “To me, that’s every son’s dream. And for some reason he gets criticized. No question, he’s a little ambitious at times [with] what he says. But he’s around his son. I have no problem with that. And maybe he could temper it a little bit, but I would’ve loved to have my father do that.”"

That is a heartfelt take from Brooks, one that many people probably share. While many people bash LaVar for how he goes about his business, having a support system in place is always a helpful thing.

While many people may not like how LaVar conducts himself, there is no doubt that he is fully invested in his family.
