Los Angeles Lakers News: Forward Jamil Wilson is being added to the roster on a 10-day contract.

A lot of recent Los Angeles Lakers news has been off the court information. LaVar Ball has once again found himself in the spotlight, sharing his opinion on head coach Luke Walton once again. Ball believes that Walton has lost the team.

There is plenty of debate about that. The Lakers certainly didn’t look like a team that has given up on their coach against the Atlanta Hawks. On Sunday night, the Lakers played one of their better games of the season, defeating the Hawks 132-113.

The Lakers looked good, as they got contributions from up and down the roster. With everyone getting healthy, Walton is going to be able to find a rotation and stick to it. Now, he will have one more player to potentially add to that rotation.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers are going to be signing forward Jamil Wilson to a 10-day contract. Wojnarowski says that the deal is supposed to be signed Wednesday so he can be eligible to play on Thursday in the game against the San Antonio Spurs.

The 3-point shooting is a big reason the Lakers are bringing Wilson in. Right now, the Lakers are the worst 3-point shooting team in the NBA, converting on only 32.8 percent of their attempts. Their nine 3-pointers made per game are tied for 23rd in the league.

Wilson played with the Los Angeles Clippers to begin the season. They signed Wilson to a two-way deal on July 18th. He played well during his time with the Clippers, but injuries caused him to lose his spot.

With injuries decimating their backcourt, the Clippers decided to waive Wilson in favor of Tyrone Wallace. Like he did with the Lakers, Wilson should be able to carve out a role with his 3-point shooting.

During his NBA G-League career, Wilson knocked down 37 percent of his shots from long range. This season with the Clippers, he was connecting at a 42.9 percent clip, making 1.8 3-pointers per game.

42.9 percent would be the best 3-point percentage on the Lakers, by far. Rookie Kyle Kuzma currently leads the team in 3-point percentage, making 37.8 percent of his shots from deep.

Finding playing time for Wilson could be a challenge. The aforementioned Kuzma has been outstanding in the stretch-4 role. One person who could find himself on the bench more is Corey Brewer. Brewer did not enter the game against the Hawks until garbage time, so Wilson could pick up minutes there.

Trades could also open things up for the Lakers. Larry Nance Jr. has been added to the trading block, along with Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.

Any of those three players being traded would open up playing time. Walton will have some decisions to make, but you can be sure that Wilson will get a shot given his 3-point prowess.
