The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday evening. Check out our recap and highlights of the victory!
The Los Angeles Lakers winning streak continued on Thursday night. The Lakers are now riding a season-high three-game winning streak after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 93-81 at the STAPLES Center.
It was a game of runs, as both teams looked like they would take control at different times. Early on the Spurs got the upper hand, but the Lakers responded with a huge run. At the end of the first quarter into the second quarter, the Lakers ripped off a 17-0 run.
The Lakers would open up a lead as big as 19 points in the first half, but the Spurs battled back. Despite being shorthanded, as Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, Ton Parker and Rudy Gay were all sidelined, the Spurs battled.
The Spurs cut the lead down to 11 by halftime and even took a lead in the third quarter as the Lakers tightened up. The young Lakers responded once again, as they went on another run. After falling behind, the Lakers went on a 16-9 run to finish the quarter and take the lead for good.
The Lakers would ice the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Spurs 25-19 and getting the victory.

Defense was the name of the game for the Lakers tonight. They held the Spurs to 40.8 percent shooting and forced 20 turnovers. It was an impressive and much-needed defensive performance, as the Lakers offense wasn’t great in the game.
Los Angeles shot only 41.4 percent from the field and 34.2 percent from the 3-point line. However, they had timely baskets and made shots when they needed to.
Brandon Ingram led the way for the Lakers with 26 points. He scored from all over the court as the Spurs had no answer for him. The only player who slowed down Ingram was Ingram himself, as he made only 2-of-5 from the foul line.
Lonzo Ball also continues to produce. Ball stuffed the stat sheet, scoring 18 points on 7-of-11 from the field and 4-of-7 from deep. He also pulled down 10 rebounds, giving him 10 double-doubles this season. Ball also added six assists and four steals.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was also a catalyst for the team in the second half. He played some strong defense, picking up five steals in total. Two of them led to easy dunks for Caldwell-Pope.
