The Los Angeles Lakers have the fourth best chance of signing LeBron James according to updated betting odds.

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to strike it big in free agency this summer. Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have worked hard to put the organization in a position to land not only one but two max free agents this summer.

There is still a little more that could be done to offer more flexibility. However, the trade deadline deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers opened up enough space to land at least one max free agent. Shedding Jordan Clarkson‘s deal and acquiring two expiring contracts put Los Angeles on track to land a max player.

Coincidentally, one of the max players the Lakers are going to look to sign is LeBron James. Wouldn’t that be something if the Cavaliers cleared the way for James to leave and sign with the Lakers because they sent Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye to Los Angeles?

James and the Cavaliers still have some unfinished business to attend to. James led the way as the Cavaliers defeated the Boston Celtics in seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavaliers will be facing the Golden State Warriors for the fourth consecutive year in the NBA Finals. This will also be the eighth straight finals that James is playing in.

While the Cavaliers prepare for that series, the Lakers have been hard at work preparing for the 2018 NBA Draft and free agency. Their fans have debated for weeks who the team could select in the draft and which free agents to sign.

There are widespread opinions on if the team should sign James. The fans that don’t want to sign LeBron, however, will be happy to see the updated odds for James signing with the Lakers.

According to the most recent odds, the Lakers have the fourth best odds at landing James. They are behind the Philadelphia 76ers, Cavaliers and Houston Rockets. However, the Lakers actual odds aren’t great.

The 76ers are listed at +150, followed by +175 for the Cavaliers and +220 for the Rockets. Los Angeles comes in at +550. The Miami Heat (+1600), Golden State Warriors (+1600) and Los Angeles Clippers (+2500) round out the odds list
