Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve free agency, as the team is reportedly meeting with Tyreke Evans.
Los Angeles Lakers rumors have run rampant with NBA Free Agency officially underway. The Lakers have been busy in the early going and are already big winners.
Los Angeles landed the crowned jewel of free agency, agreeing to a deal with LeBron James. The deal was a surprising one, as James committed to the Lakers with a four-year, $154 million deal. After agreeing with James, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka wasted no time adding pieces around him.
After agreeing with James, the Lakers signed three more players. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was re-signed to a one-year, $12 million deal. Long-time James antagonist Lance Stephenson was also signed to a one-year deal. NBA Champion JaVale McGee also agreed to a one-year deal worth the veteran’s minimum to help shore things up in the middle for the Lakers.
The offseason is already a win for the Lakers by agreeing to a deal with James. However, they are not done adding pieces. Could Tyreke Evans be next?
According to Chris B. Haynes of ESPN, the Lakers are Evans are meeting today. Evans met with the Oklahoma City Thunder last night in Los Angeles, as the two are developing quite a rivalry this offseason.
Evans played outstanding basketball for the Memphis Grizzlies last season. He averaged 19.4 points, 5.2 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 30.9 minutes per game. He was efficient offensively as well, making 45.2 percent of his shots, 39.9 percent from the 3-point line and 78.5 percent from the foul line.

If that Evans landed in Los Angeles with the Lakers, he would represent quite a coup for the team. Their backcourt, which was a question mark coming into the offseason, would be solidified.
Evans would join a deep group that includes the retained Caldwell-Pope, Stephenson and Josh Hart, who had an impressive rookie season.
Evans was a bright spot in a dark season for the Grizzlies in which they won only 22 games. He will be 29 years old this season, so there is plenty left in the tank for the former Rookie of the Year.
Evans would provide the Lakers with another ball handler and playmaker to take pressure off of Lonzo Ball and James. His ability to break down opponents and score in a variety of ways would also be welcomed.

Evans would be an excellent addition for the Lakers. You can never have enough wing players, especially when you are attempting to knock off the loaded Golden State Warriors.
