Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve Lonzo Ball, who reportedly underwent surgery as the last option this summer.

Los Angeles Lakers rumors have quieted down recently. With training camp right around the corner, there haven’t been many rumors surrounding the Lakers as the roster is pretty much set. However, a recent rumor involves point guard, Lonzo Ball.

Ball has had a difficult offseason. While there have been videos of the other young players working out, Ball has been sidelined a majority of it.

Ball battled injuries throughout his rookie season, appearing in only 52 games because of shoulder and knee injuries. Coming into the offseason, Ball was expected to be healthy and ready to get to work. Unfortunately, that is not how it happened.

Ball received a PRP shot in his knee, hoping that would help his recovery. The shot did not work, as it was announced that Ball had suffered a torn meniscus just weeks after he returned to the court to begin training.

There was no clarification when the meniscus tear happened. However, there are people that believe the injury was leaked in an effort to dampen Ball’s trade value. At the time, the Lakers were engaged in trade talks for Kawhi Leonard, and people believed that the leak about Ball’s knee was to help keep him in Los Angeles.

Eventually, Ball underwent surgery on the meniscus. He opted to have the injured part of the meniscus removed instead of repaired. That cut his recovery down a lot, as the removal was only about a six week recovery time, while the repair would have been six months.

Ball revealed that information during an episode of Ball In The Family on Facebook. In addition to that, Ball also revealed that surgery was the last option.

LaVar Ball copes with low JBA attendance, LaMelo Ball's lack of professionalism, and difficulties on the court with help from Tina. Meanwhile, LiAngelo Ball considers joining Melo in the JBA and Lonzo Ball must undergo knee surgery while helping Denise find a new home for their growing family.

"“I got hurt a couple of times during the season, and then after the season I decided to get a shot and try to take care of it that way,” Ball said (h/t Lonzo Wire’s Christian Rivas). “That didn’t work, so the last option is surgery.”"

It was discouraging for Ball to have a lost offseason. This was an important one, as he had some things to work on from his rookie season. Also, the team brought in veteran Rajon Rondo, someone capable of taking over the starting spot.

While the lost offseason was disappointing, it is encouraging that Ball should be ready for camp. Getting him on the court for practice with his new teammates is very important. With so many new faces on the roster, building chemistry and cohesion is important.
