– Be second-leading scorer on the team
Last season, one of the reasons for the team taking a step forward was the scoring provided by Kyle Kuzma. As the 27th overall pick, nobody could have predicted that Kuzma was going to be tied with Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle as the leading scorer for the Lakers last season.
As a rookie, Kuzma averaged 16.1 points per game on 45 percent shooting from the field and 36.6 percent from beyond the three-point line. All of these are excellent numbers for a rookie forward, as Kuzma was one of the most polished offensive players in the entire rookie class.
In his second season, Kuzma likely will not be tied as the leading scorer for the Lakers. With the addition of LeBron James, he will almost certainly be the leading scorer for Los Angeles, as he is regularly averaging over 25 points per game. However, Kuzma certainly can be the second-leading scorer for the Lakers. If he is coming off the bench like many think, Kuzma will be the primary offensive option on the court for stretches. With his excellent ability to score, this could result in a big offensive year for Kuzma.
While Kuzma set the bar high at 16.1 points per game as a rookie, he certainly has the potential to exceed that number this coming season.
