Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve Lonzo Ball, who will reportedly be searching for his next agent without the help of his father, LaVar Ball.

There have been a number of Los Angeles Lakers rumors involving point guard Lonzo Ball popping up recently. Ball has not been on the court for the Lakers since an injury on Jan. 19 against the Houston Rockets when he suffered a Grade 3 left ankle sprain and bone bruise. Despite that, his name has continually popped up in news headlines.

The biggest Lakers rumor involving Lonzo has been the status of Big Baller Brand. Ball had money stolen from him by co-founder Alan Foster, who turned out had a checkered past that involved jail time.

There are legitimate questions about whether or not Big Baller Brand will survive their recent setbacks. Lonzo has seemingly removed himself from the business, as he even covered up the BBB tattoo that he had hon his right forearm.

The Big Baller Brand fiasco isn’t the only off-court issue that Lonzo is dealing with. In addition to that, Lonzo is also on the lookout for a new agent.

Lonzo and his agent, Harrison Gaines, mutually agreed to part ways. In a statement to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Ball let it be known that the parting was not related to his dealings with Foster and BBB.

"“Harrison Gaines has been a trusted advisor and close friend for many years,” Ball told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne in a statement. “He guided my NBA career with integrity and always had my best interests at heart.”"

There has been some discussion about who Ball would make his next agent. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that LaVar Ball would be heavily involved in decision making as the ‘shot-caller’. Haynes went as far as to report that Ball was inquiring with agencies the possibility that they would get Lonzo and his two other sons, LiAngelo and LaMelo, on the same NBA team.

Haynes noted that many of those agencies became uninterested in Lonzo once it seemed that he would be involved in the process. However, those agencies that bowed out early may have made a mistake.

According to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times, LaVar will indeed not be involved in the process of finding Lonzo a new agent.

Just like in the shoe race to land Lonzo, agents should be lining up for his services. Yes, he has some holes in his game offensively, namely his aggressiveness and shooting ability, but there is no doubting that he can be a special player.

Lonzo possesses elite passing and playmaking ability, is an incredible rebounder for a point guard and has also proven to be a huge difference maker defensively. With three above-average to elite skills already at his disposal, Lonzo has the potential to be an All-Star player down the road.

If Lonzo is truly on the search for a new agent on his own, he will have no shortage of suitors. Dealing with LaVar is not something many people want to do. Knowing he will be out of the picture should make Lonzo a more desirable client.
