Power Forward: Anthony Davis

The Anthony Davis trade changed the Los Angeles Lakers. With much of the young core now gone, the Lakers are fully in win-now mode and adding a top 7 player in Anthony Davis is going to go a long way in helping them win. Landing Davis has given the Lakers a very secure building piece for when James calls time on his career in the not too distant future.

With Anthony Davis you have one of the most complete players in the NBA. Davis can score from anywhere, try bang with him in the paint and he will make you look silly. Try and sag on defending him near the 3-point line and he will pull up in your face.  While his offensive game has drawn a lot of praise, it is on defense where Davis is most well known for. Being an elite shot blocker coming out of Kentucky, Davis has continued that in the NBA and is one the premier shot blockers in the NBA every season. Not only is he a prolific shot blocker, but for his size is an perimeter defender.

As Lakers fans, I’m sure we can’t wait to see LeBron and Davis together. With LeBron’s elite passing and Davis elite finishing, we should be in for a real treat next season. I can see Davis getting significantly easier looks near and away from the rim. With James on the same court, opposing teams best players will gravitate to him allowing for less double teams on Davis.

LeBron will easily be the best teammate that “The Brow” has ever had.
