Los Angeles Lakers rumors: Only LeBron James, Anthony Davis safe from being traded
Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors will surprise some people, as the whole roster, outside of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, could be part of a trade to upgrade the team.
Despite having the best record in the Western Conference, there have been plenty of Los Angeles Lakers rumors popping up. The team is 33-7, but there is still plenty of talk about the team shaking things up a little bit roster wise.
Kyle Kuzma has been the main talking point when it comes to Lakers rumors. He has been involved in numerous trade scenarios, some of which are more believable than others.
A popular rumor that has been swirling around is Kuzma being part of a package to the Minnesota Timberwolves for 3-and-D wing, Robert Covington.
Plenty of opinions could be made from those rumors. However, the biggest one is that the Lakers will need to add other pieces to complete a deal for Covington. The same goes for Bogdan Bogdanovic of the Sacramento Kings, as both players have contracts much larger than the one Kuzma has.
The added pieces part is where the latest Lakers rumors focus. That is because according to Tania Ganguli of The Los Angeles Times, the Lakers are willing and ready to make a deal if it means getting them close to winning a championship.
How serious is Rob Pelinka, the general manager and recently named vice president of basketball operations, about potentially making a deal? According to Ganguli, the Lakers are willing to trade anyone on the roster except LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Ganguli’s sources confirm that Kuzma has been the name mentioned most, which makes sense. If the team truly wants to upgrade, he is the best trade chip remaining, as they unloaded their war chest to acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans.
However, given his contract, a deal is very difficult to make unless they trade him for another player on a rookie deal. They will have to add players to match salary, which is where this rumor becomes interesting.
All teams say that winning an NBA championship is the main goal. However, there are some organizations that are not willing to do everything it takes to get there.
For example, the Boston Celtics have missed out on multiple blockbuster trade opportunities, coming up short in the postseason. On the other hand, the Toronto Raptors, the reigning NBA Champions, went all in at the NBA Trade Deadline in 2019 and it paid off handsomely.
With the latest rumors suggesting the Lakers are willing to trade anyone outside of their two franchise pillars, it shows that they are serious about bringing the Larry O’Brien trophy back to Los Angeles.
