#2: Defensive Fit

The next area of the game in which Montrezl Harrell will fit perfectly with the Los Angeles Lakers is on the defensive side of the ball. On the court, this is where Harrell will likely contribute the most to the team.

The LeBron James era of the Lakers have branded themselves on defense and bringing in a player like Montrezl Harrell attests to this. Last season, Harrell had a career-low defensive rating of 107, meaning though that this statistic this was the best defensive season of his career. In terms of defensive win shares, Harrell ranked 48th in the entire league.

Harrell is best described as a defensive pest in the best way. He has the build to guard any position. Standing at 6’7″ he has the speed to defend guards and wings. However, due to his build, he also has the strength to defend even the best centers in the league.

He plays with a fire that makes him a very high energy defender and is very vocal. This mix really gets to offensive players and often throws them off of their game.

As previously stated when covering his offensive fit, Harrell is also an animal on the defensive boards. He averaged 4.5 rebounds off of the bench with the Clippers. If Harrell is a starter, pairing him with Anthony Davis will certainly make the Lakers once again a force to be reckoned with on the boards.
