The Los Angeles Lakers are going to look to improve this offseason after being eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs by the Phoenix Suns. While the Lakers ultimately lost because of injuries, with several players hitting the free-agent market this offseason, there is plenty of room to grow.

Every fan knows this and has been theorizing about who the Lakers could pursue this offseason. Will they get a big fish like Kyle Lowry? Will Kyle Kuzma be traded? Will Montrezl Harrell opt into his deal. Will Marc Gasol stick around for one more season?

Those are just a few of the questions surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason. One question that is not being asked much is if the team will go after former All-NBA and all-star forward, Carmelo Anthony.

It might seem ludicrous on the surface, but it is deeper than that.

Carmelo Anthony does make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.

Everyone knows that prime Carmelo is long gone and at this point, he is just a role player chasing his first ring. The Portland Trail Blazers took a chance on him when no one else would and now he is a free agent yet again.

With all of the Damian Lillard drama, Melo may be looking for a one-way ticket out of Portland. Perhaps that one-way ticket lands him in Los Angeles. Here are three reasons why the Lakers should pursue Carmelo Anthony in free agency.
