Everyone has an opinion on what is going to happen next for LeBron James. Therein lies the problem with the way a ton of his coming free agency decision has been covered. Those opinions are being passed off as facts, insider updates, etc. There is nothing concrete to be found in most of these.

"Believe nothing that's out there because I haven't had one conversation with him at the end of the season," James' agent, Rich Paul, told Pat McAfee on his show.

This statement has not received the coverage it deserved. The part of the conversation between McAfee and Paul that most gravitated to was Paul campaigning for his client, saying 10-12 teams have reached out about James' services. That deserved the attention, but it overshadowed the much more important sentiment about LeBron's future.

There are plenty of free agency updates circulating on the subject. Those will range anywhere from educated guesses to taking blind shots in the dark at a dart board.

LeBron James' future has no clear-cut answers right now

Many Los Angeles Lakers fans would love to see James wearing purple and gold again next season. No one can truly be blamed for investing in the saga, while being ready to consume any and all information that comes from that direction.

Paying attention to the language used in some of these updates can be very telling. Brian Windhorst's statements from ESPN Cleveland offer a great example of why that is the case.

What Windhorst was saying centered around statements that included thinking and believing. Those are much different than a concrete insider report on the matter. Windy's comments can thus be chalked up to an educated guess in the most generous of interpretations.

Someone like Dan Woike of The Athletic did an excellent job of capturing where the predicament with James stands as of now. There is ultimately still a great amount of unknown with the situation at hand.

Woike wrote: "As the team enters its exclusive negotiating window with James, it cannot know with certainty the best road to travel this summer. ... The plan, as of now, isn’t clear."

How could the plan be clear with the lack of anything concrete from James' end? The only real thing LeBron has made obvious is the intention to take his time. Everything else involves a lot of reading between the lines, and in worse cases, throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.

There are things that can be safely assumed without having the verifiable confirmation to back it. James is probably going to play another year. Not getting Year 24 after all of this would be surprising, to say the least.

Where that next season happens and the details that go into that are about as clear as the heavily polluted lake in your local city. LeBron's next move is still a massive wild card.
