LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been listed on the injury report in recent games. Although both stars have played in recent action, they have often been listed as probable or questionable before games. However, D'Angelo Russell is the latest addition to the NBA injury report.
All three players are questionable for Wednesday's Los Angeles Lakers-Minnesota Timberwolves Christmas Day game. Davis is dealing with a left shoulder contusion, while LeBron is listed on the injury report with left foot injury management. Russell, meanwhile, is battling a left thumb sprain.
Russell suffered the injury during the Lakers' 117-114 defeat on Monday against the Detroit Pistons. The fact that he is listed as questionable suggests he could return sooner rather than later, but there are currently no guarantees about his status for Wednesday night.
The 16-13 Lakers will play the 15-13 Warriors on Wednesday night 8 PM EST. Wednesday's contest will draw plenty of attention with many superstars expected to be in the contest, although, as mentioned, the Lakers have a number of players listed as questionable.
D'Angelo Russell's 2024-25 season with Lakers
Russell's role has been inconsistent at times this year. He has played in 28 games during the 2024-25 season, but Russell has started only 10 of those games. The Lakers guard is averaging 26.3 minutes per outing as well. He has certainly played some meaningful minutes, but there is still some uncertainty around his role.
Russell is averaging 12.5 points per game. He is shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from beyond the arc. Russell is also averaging 4.7 assists and 2.8 rebounds per outing.
It is worth noting that he has been mentioned as a potential trade candidate. Will a deal come to fruition? It remains to be seen, but Russell is dealing with trade rumors in addition to his aforementioned injury.
The Lakers are certainly hopeful that LeBron James, Anthony Davis and D'Angelo Russell will be available for Wednesday night's game. At the moment, all three players' statuses are in question. The NBA, a league that has struggled with ratings this year, is surely hopeful that all of the stars will be on the floor for the Christmas Day affair. It goes without saying, but more fans will be likely to watch with LeBron on the floor against Stephen Curry.
The Lakers will provide injury updates before tip-off on Wednesday night.
