The Los Angeles Lakers have announced their official roster for their summer league teams.
The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have to get creative when filling out their roster for the 2019-20 season. One way for them to unearth affordable talent is through Summer League.
Los Angeles will be partaking in two summer leagues this year. They will play in the second annual California Classic, being joined by the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat. After that, they will head to Las Vegas, where all 30 NBA teams will be participating in addition to two national teams in China and Croatia.
Summer League provides fans the first opportunity to see the team’s newest draft picks take the court. Talen Horton-Tucker, who was drafted No. 46 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Lakers after acquiring the pick in a trade with the Orlando Magic, is the lone draft pick taking the court for Los Angeles this summer.
Lakers fans will have two opportunities to see the newest crop of youngsters, and we now know who will be wearing the purple and gold starting next week.
The Lakers released their official rosters for the two summer leagues on their Twitter account.
Los Angeles has 13 players on their roster this summer. Rosco Allen is attending the California Classic only; the other 12 players will be participating in both.

With so much roster turnover occurring, there is only one player returning that played for the Lakers last year, in Jeffrey Carroll. Carroll played this past season with the South Bay Lakers and will be joined by teammate Marcus Allen this summer.
In addition, the Lakers signed five undrafted free agents from the 2019 class. Zach Norvell Jr., a guard out of Gonzaga, was signed to a two-way deal. Buffalo forward Nick Perkins, UNC-Wilmington center Davontae Cacok, Nevada forward Jordan Caroline and Mississippi State power forward Aric Holman were also signed. Cacok signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the team that could pay him up to $50K more.
Conner Frankamp, Dakota Mathias, Codi Miller-McIntyre and Joe Young round out the roster. Young is the only player with NBA experience on the roster, as he played for three seasons with the Indiana Pacers after being a second-round pick in 2015. He played in China this last season, averaging 36.1 points per game.
These players have an excellent opportunity in front of them. With the Lakers looking to make a big splash in free agency, there could be at least six roster spots open for the NBA team.
