3. Vince Carter

Even though Vincanity is the oldest player in the NBA at 42, there is still life in the old dog yet. While Carter is no longer the nightly highlight reel scoring and dunking machine he used to be, he has been a solid contributor the last two seasons for the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings.

However, with these two teams, neither were competing for a championship and their main focus was on developing their young talent and giving them the vast majority of the playing time, using Carter in sparingly in the rotation. Mainly, they were using him as a mentor to the young players on the roster.

If Carter was to become a Laker, you are going to get a highly motivated veteran who knows this is potentially his last chance at a championship. You also get a former superstar who has adapted to his new role and who won’t be asked to play major minutes, meaning that the minutes he is asked to play he can go all out. It is a low-risk move the Lakers could make.

I think even the most hardened Lakers hater would not begrudge Vince Carter having one last chance at an NBA Championship before calling it a day on his storied career.
