The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors wrap up their 2019 preseason tonight at the Chase Center.

The regular season is quickly approaching for the Los Angeles Lakers. They have played five exhibition games in the preseason and will be playing their final one tonight, once again against the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers struggled in their two games in China against the Brooklyn Nets. There was a lot going on during those games, so it makes some sense that the team may have been distracted. However, playing stateside against the Warriors has been a totally different story.

The Lakers and Warriors have faced off three times during the preseason. All three times Los Angeles has come out on top, with two of the games being blowouts.

In the preseason opener, LeBron James and Anthony Davis gave a preview of what they will look like as a duo. All Lakers fans had to be giddy watching them on the court, as they dominated. While only playing the first half, Davis scored 22 points with 10 rebounds and James recorded 15 points, eight assists and three rebounds.

In the second game between the teams, the Lakers rested a lot of veterans yet still came out with a win. This was the return game from China, so James, Davis, Danny Green, Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley all rested. The Warriors rested Draymond Green and D’Angelo Russell as well.

Zach Norvell Jr. had a big game with 22 points, getting the spot start. Devontae Cacok, Demetrius Jackson, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, JaVale McGee, Dwight Howard and David Stockton all scored in double-figures.

The third matchup was much of the same as the first. James and Davis were dominant as the Warriors had no answer for the Lakers’ oversized frontcourt. Stephen Curry rested for this game, but even if he had played, he would not have changed the outcome.

Los Angeles won 126-93. They knocked down 50 percent of their 3-point attempts, making 15 in the game.

Tonight is the final preseason game for both teams, but we may not see many regulars take the court. It was already announced that James and Davis won’t play for the Lakers. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see some of the other veterans rested as well, as this will be the last chance the organization has to see what some of the young guys have to offer.

Kostas Antetokounmp, Cacok, Norvell and Jackson should receive extended run as the Lakers will look to keep some of them on their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.
