The Los Angeles Lakers look poised to hire Tyronn Lue as their next head coach and his former player, Kevin Love, likes the idea of Lue coaching the Lakers.

All signs are pointing to the Los Angeles Lakers hiring Tyronn Lue to be their next head coach, replacing Luke Walton. Walton and the organization mutually parted ways following a disappointing 37-45 season.

Los Angeles is working toward making an offer to Lue, who would become the 27th head coach in Lakers’ franchise history. It is a move that has been endorsed by a number of people already.

Magic Johnson, who stepped down as president of basketball operations hours before the season finale, endorsed Lue becoming the next head coach.

Despite stepping down from his position, he has remained in contact with Jeanie Buss, as the two went out to dinner this week together.

In addition to Johnson, another Lakers legendary head coach, Phil Jackson, liked Lue and endorsed him becoming the next head coach of the team.

While LeBron James and his agent Rich Paul haven’t asked for Lue to become the next head coach, it is a decision that James would reportedly be happy about.

While some Lakers fans are hesitant about Lue becoming the next head coach given the optics it may present in terms of James running the organization, he is someone that is well respected by his peers and other players.

James isn’t the only former player that thinks highly of Lue, as another one of his former players with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kevin Love, also thinks highly of him.

During an appearance on First Things First on FS1, Love commented on the potential reunion between James and Lue in Los Angeles. It is a decision that he believes would be a great one.

Love spoke highly of Lue, saying that he loves him. He also praised Lue’s coaching acumen, commenting on his X’s and O’s. That kind of strategy is something that Luke Walton was not praised for, as it seemed like the Lakers didn’t have a gameplan, especially on offense, a lot of the time during his tenure.

Love also mentioned the experience that Lue will bring to the job. Not only does he have experience coaching James, but he also has experience working in Los Angeles as well.

The former UCLA Bruin believes Lue is made to coach a team like the Lakers.

Hopefully, Love is right in his assessment of Lue. The Lakers are stuck in the worst postseason drought in franchise history, missing the playoffs for six straight years.

Lue will hopefully help them get over the hump next season if he is indeed brought on as head coach. In addition to James and the younger players like Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and Moritz Wagner, the Lakers have another lottery pick and cap space to use this summer.

Los Angeles could see a quick turnaround, and if you are to believe what Love says, Lue is the man to make it happen.
