Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve the process of hiring Tyronn Lue, as LeBron James and Rich Paul have reportedly not asked for Lue to become the next head coach.

There have been plenty of Los Angeles Lakers rumors in recent days involving their head coaching search. It looks like they are heading toward a decision, with Tyronn Lue expected to be the next head coach of the team.

This comes on the heels of Monty Williams, another top option for the organization, deciding to join the Phoenix Suns as their next head coach.

The Lue decision is one the Lakers have reportedly been planning to make, as he was their No. 1 option from the beginning. An offer is being put together for Lue, as the Lakers are working on their own timeline.

This is a move that has been endorsed by people that Jeanie Buss holds in high regards. Magic Johnson swayed Buss toward Lue when the two met up for dinner this week. Despite stepping down as the president of basketball operations, Johnson and Buss have remained in constant contact.

In addition to Johnson, former Lakers head coach Phil Jackson also was high on Lue becoming the next Lakers’ head coach. He also recommended Lue to Buss.

While all of these people have had input, the one person fans want to hear from is LeBron James. The hiring of Lue gives some fans the perception that James is running things behind the scenes with a lot of input into the team’s decision making.

Lue was James’ head coach during his latest run with the Cleveland Cavaliers, with the two winning an NBA title in 2016. However, according to recent reports, James has not pushed the team toward hiring Lue.

According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, James and his agent, Rich Paul, have not told the Lakers who to hire as the next head coach.

That should not be a surprise that James would welcome Lue to the Lakers as his head coach. Outside of Erik Spoelstra, Lue is arguably the best head coach that James has played under. In addition, the two found success working alongside each other in Cleveland.

With Williams off the board, Lue was a logical pick for the Lakers. Given how things ended with Luke Walton, the team could not afford to go with another inexperienced head coach, which Juwan Howard would have been.

Compared to Jason Kidd, who also interviewed for the job, Lue is the superior selection.

James has said that he still has trust in the organization, and bringing in Lue as the head coach should make that relationship even stronger.
