Most recently, Bryant was celebrated on social media. August 23rd was Bryant’s 39th birthday. Many people had well wishes for him, including former teammate Pau Gasol. Gasol took to Twitter to wish Bryant a happy birthday, calling him the GOAT in the process.
The celebration didn’t stop there. August 24th was dubbed Mamba Day, as the date included his two jersey numbers. For Mamba Day, Bryant issued different challenges for different people, such as some athletes and rapper, Kendrick Lamar.
One of the athletes that Bryant issued a challenge to was Milwaukee Bucks small forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Bryant challenged the Greek Freak to win MVP of the NBA this season. He was not the only player Bryant challenged, as he also sent a challenge to Washington Wizards point guard, John Wall.
Wizards Talk asked for a challenge to be issued for Wall, and Bryant responded with First Team All-Defense.
Wall is regarded as one of the best defensive point guards in the NBA. When healthy, he is easily in the upper echelon of NBA point guards, as he has a strong argument to be placed within the top-five.
